Spring 2019 Tire Rack Street Survival School is Sunday, April 28

Attention BMW club members!

Our spring 2019 Tire Rack Street Survival School is Sunday, April 28th and your assistance is needed to make this a successful event for our young driver students.  This is one way, we, as volunteer organizations, give back to the community in a meaningful way by teaching inexperienced young drivers, “street survival” car control skills.

Your help is needed as in-car instructors, course workers and general assistance.  It takes a ratio of generally 2x the number of students to support this event and with our anticipated class size of 20-25 young drivers, it can’t happen without you.  You WILL experience a great sense of accomplishment by helping make this event successful as you see/experience the students’ increasing car control skills throughout the day.  You’ll even get a donut/beverage and lunch too!

Please sign up today at:  https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/street-survival-staff-only-des-moines-area-community-college-bmw-cca-iowa-592189

Questions regarding volunteering as a student instructor can be referred to Fred Bell, Event Chair ( fourbells1@mchsi.com ) or Bryan McCoy, Chief Instructor ( ka0ysq@gmail.com ).  General worker questions to Rick Talbot, Worker Coordinator (rickminir59@gmail.com).

Everyone can help us promote this event for young drivers (15-21) !   Event info and student registration can be found here:  https://www.motorsportreg.com/events/iowa-bmw-cca-18-1-des-moines-area-community-college-tire-rack-street-survival-077569

Please spread the word of the event to co-workers, neighbors, friends with young drivers!  If you have any direct contacts with high schools in the area, those would be key individuals to contact with information regarding this school.

Jolly Holiday Lights – Adventureland Park, Saturday, December 1st !!!

The Iowa Chapter, BMWCCA will be meeting just west of the Adventureland Park in the parking lot of the Burger King (3300 9th St NW, AltoonaIA 50009) at 5:00pm Saturday evening to participate in the benefit for the Make-A-Wish of Iowa.  Look for the Talbot’s Chili Red MINI Roadster with the top down!   I don’t suspect there’ll be many convertibles in the lot!

This year’s event will be the second held at this new location (NOT Waterworks Park) with 100% of the $20.00 per car entry fee going to grant wishes for Iowa kids.  Last year it was a great experience and those who attended felt it a unique experience from previous years’ events at Waterworks Park.  Kick off your holiday season with friends enjoying the 2.5 mile drive and the over 100 illuminated holiday displays while benefitting a great cause for kids.

Tickets may be purchased in advance beginning in November at Hy Vee or Casey’s or online now prior to November 23 for a discounted price of $18.00 per car https://app.tikly.co/events/2861.

Please let Rick Talbot (rickminir59@gmail.com) know if you’re planning on attending so we can have an idea of participants and also, if you’d be staying for the casual dinner following the drive.”  Dinner at Smokey D’s BBQ after the lights tour.  5055 NW 2nd St., Des Moines, IA 50313
